One of Philippine independent cinema’s most compelling actors, Bong Cabrera, takes center stage in BALOS, a powerful new production featured in VLF XXI: Hubo’t Hubad.

Bong Cabrera is known for Sa Ilalim ng Tulay (2011), The Guerrilla Is a Poet (2013), and Leonor Will Never Die (2022). Through these acclaimed films and numerous independent productions, he has established himself as one of the most respected actors in contemporary Filipino cinema.

Adding to his impressive body of work, Bong Cabrera is also part of Magellan, the international historical epic directed and written by Lav Diaz, which was selected for screening at the Cannes Film Festival. His inclusion in the prestigious project further cements his status as a globally recognized Filipino actor.

A Story of Courage, Silence, and Survival

Now, the acclaimed indie actor takes on the role of Dr. Abdul Gandamara, a medical worker caught in an impossible moral dilemma when a wounded fighter unexpectedly arrives at a small Marawi hospital.

As danger closes in, Dr. Gandamara and his fellow medical workers must decide:

  • Or reveal the truth and risk everything?
