In a celebration that felt both intimate and effortlessly grand, Ricky Lee welcomed his 78th birthday in true iconic fashion. The gathering, held at The Clubhouse at Third Green Meadows, unfolded as a refined yet warm reunion of family, creatives, and some of the most respected names in film, media, and literature.
The guest list read like a seamless blend of generations. Internationally celebrated actress Dolly de Leon and globally recognized Iza Calzado joined beloved veterans Cherry Pie Picache, Sylvia Sanchez and Agot Isidro, together with a new wave of acclaimed performers such as Cristine Reyes, Kylie Padilla, JC Santos, Elijah Canlas, Miles Ocampo, Ralph De Leon, and Don Melvin Boongaling.
Also present was an impressive circle of filmmakers and storytellers, including directors Mac Alejandre, Benedict Mique, Dave Cecilio, Kyla Danelle Romero, Emmanuel Dela Cruz, Arjanmar Rebeta, and Carlos Siguion-Reyna. The media and literary community was just as present, with journalists Kara David, MJ Felipe, Mel Navarro, Jude Cartalaba, and writer-journalist RB Borinaga in attendance.
Completing the inner circle were Lee’s trusted creative support team—his intern, facilitator, and PR pillars Adelbert Abrigonda and Marlon Nicol Laudot—together with the vibrant batches of the Ricky Lee Scriptwriting Workshop, whose presence perfectly reflected the legacy he continues to build.
The atmosphere flowed naturally—music in the background, an abundant spread of food and wine, and conversations that felt warm, creative, and genuine.
One of the evening’s standout moments came when Kara David, who also served as the program’s stage host, playfully slipped in a witty remark about corruption—drawing laughter from the crowd—before inviting Lee to share his birthday wish. She even recalled, with a mix of humor and irony, her own bold birthday wish from the previous year—hoping that corrupt politicians would simply disappear—adding a layer of sharp social commentary beneath the evening’s lighthearted tone.
Taking the moment, Lee expressed a simple yet deeply meaningful wish: that the scripts written by his workshop students would soon be produced and brought to life on screen—a vision anchored in nurturing the next generation of storytellers.
As the night gently came to a close, guests departed with full hearts and lingering smiles, carrying with them not just the warmth of the celebration, but a shared sense of purpose—that through storytelling, creativity, and truth, meaningful change remains within reach. ✨🎬🥂
